My working scratch pad

I use CodePen as a live clipboard for static page content updates I’m actively developing — HTML/CSS snippets, layout experiments, and component drafts for Oracle Commerce Cloud pages. Some pens need updated images and polish before they’re showcase-ready. Check back as they get cleaned up.

Case Studies

Blue Ridge Realty Group, a fictional boutique mountain real estate agency in Western North Carolina, developed as a full brand and web design case study — brand guide, HVAC landing page, and real estate concept site.

🏡
Real Estate Concept

As part of this portfolio project, I created the complete visual identity and website experience from concept through implementation, focusing on an approachable mountain brand inspired by Western North Carolina.

Project Overview

Blue Ridge Realty Group is a fictional real estate brokerage created as a portfolio project to demonstrate the complete branding and web design process — from research and visual identity through responsive website design and front-end development.

Role

Brand Strategy · Logo Design · UI/UX · WordPress Design · Front-End Development · Content Strategy

Challenges

  • Create trust for first-time buyers
  • Balance luxury aesthetics with approachability
  • Make mountain imagery part of the brand without overwhelming listings
  • Design a responsive layout optimized for property browsing

Designed To

  • Reduce navigation friction
  • Improve lead generation
  • Emphasize featured listings
  • Support local SEO
  • Create a premium first impression
🎨
Complete Brand Guide

A complete visual identity system built for Blue Ridge Realty Group — logo, color palette, typography, iconography, and brand applications, designed to feel rooted in the Blue Ridge Mountains while staying polished enough for a real estate audience.

Project Overview

The identity centers on a layered mountain-and-river mark paired with a refined serif wordmark, supported by a full style guide covering logo variations, brand icons, patterns, and a mood board to anchor the visual direction.

Role

Brand Strategy · Logo Design · Color & Typography Systems · Iconography · Style Guide Documentation

Palette & Type

A blue-and-green palette (deep navy #0D2F4F, slate blue #1E4F7A, dusty blue #5D7FA6, forest green #2E5E3E, sage #7FA58A, and a warm off-white #F2F4F2) chosen to convey trust, stability, and timelessness. Playfair Display anchors headings for a touch of refinement; Lato carries body text for clarity and approachability.

Challenges

  • Translate a mountain-and-river motif into a mark that stays legible at small sizes (favicon, app icon)
  • Build a palette that reads premium without tipping into generic “outdoorsy” cliché
  • Pair a traditional, trust-building serif with a warmer body font for approachability
  • Document the system clearly enough to be usable by developers and print vendors, not just the original designer

Designed To

  • Ensure visual consistency across web, print, and signage
  • Feel premium yet approachable to first-time buyers
  • Give future collaborators a single source of truth for the brand
  • Reinforce a sense of local, mountain-rooted community

🌡️
HVAC Landing Page

A single-page marketing site for HVAC Kings, a fictional heating and cooling service company, built as a partner-vertical landing page to showcase conversion-focused design outside the real estate space.

Project Overview

Designed entirely in Canva, the page opens with a bold “Comfort Solutions” hero and Get Started CTA, then walks visitors through a Service Timeline, team credentials, and a services overview — closing with direct contact information for urgent requests.

Role

Landing Page Design · Layout & Content Strategy · Conversion-Focused UX

Challenges

  • Communicate trust and reliability for an urgent, high-stakes home service
  • Keep a single-page layout scannable across hero, timeline, team, and services sections
  • Design a clear path to contact/quote requests without a full site build

Designed To

  • Drive quick contact/quote conversions via a prominent Get Started CTA
  • Establish credibility through a visible service timeline and team profiles
  • Demonstrate adaptability of design process across service industries
